How do I undo “Not interested” or “Don't recommend channel” on YouTube?
Last reviewed: October 10, 2026 · Markdown version
YouTube documents one undo, and it is a clean sweep: you delete all of that feedback at once, from My Activity. Its recommendations help gives three steps: go to My Activity, “Find Other Google activity in the left-hand menu or under the My Activity banner”, then “Select YouTube 'Not interested' feedback, then select Delete” (YouTube Help: Manage your recommendations & search results, read 10 October 2026). That one entry holds both kinds of feedback, so the channel you waved off by mistake and every video you dismissed on purpose come back into play together.
What the delete covers, and what it leaves
The page frames the step as clearing everything. In its section for TVs it says that “To clear all the 'Not interested' and 'Don't recommend channel' feedback you've submitted”, you follow the computer or phone instructions instead (YouTube Help: Manage your recommendations & search results, read 10 October 2026). Reading the rest of that page:
- Both buttons share one entry. A “Not interested” on a single video and a “Don't recommend channel” on a whole channel are cleared by the same Delete.
- Show fewer Shorts is stored separately. If you also told YouTube to show fewer Shorts, that choice lives under Other activity in My Activity, where the page says “Under 'Show fewer Shorts,' select Delete.” Clearing the Not-interested entry does not reset it.
- A TV has no undo of its own. For smart TVs, streaming devices and consoles the page sends you to a computer, Android phone or iPhone to clear the feedback.
- History and likes are other controls. The page manages watch history, search history and liked videos in their own sections; its Delete step for feedback mentions none of them.
Taking back one channel: not documented
The page describes no way to withdraw the feedback on one channel and keep the rest. Its only undo is the delete above. It says nothing about an Undo button straight after the tap, about a list of the channels you have flagged, or about removing a single entry from such a list (YouTube Help: Manage your recommendations & search results, read 10 October 2026). So if you regret one, the choice is between two imperfect routes:
- Clear the lot. Everything you dismissed can return, and you flag again whatever you still don't want as it turns up.
- Leave the feedback in place and go to the channel directly. Search for it, or subscribe to it. Subscribing gets its uploads in front of you whatever Home does: “Once you subscribe to a channel, any new videos it publishes will show up in your Subscriptions feed” (YouTube Help: Subscribe to YouTube channels, read 10 October 2026). Whether subscribing cancels an earlier “Don't recommend channel” is something neither page says.
What to expect after clearing it
YouTube describes this feedback modestly: it “may be used to tune your recommendations”. Its page on the recommendation system lists “'not interested' feedback” among the signals it learns from, next to viewing, searches, likes and the channels a user subscribes to (YouTube Help: YouTube's Recommendation System, read 10 October 2026). Neither page says how soon Home changes once the feedback is gone. Deleting it puts those videos and channels back in contention; it does not promise them a slot on your next refresh.
Our suggestion, not YouTube's: before wiping every dismissal over one channel, decide whether you want it recommended or simply want to see it. If it is the second, subscribing does that without reopening every other door.
Before you press it next time
“Don't recommend channel” tunes recommendations; it is not a block, and our page on blocking a channel sorts YouTube's channel controls by what each one actually stops. When the whole of Home has drifted rather than one channel, resetting your recommendations compares the larger levers and their side effects.
